The beautiful Colwell Bay is just 150 metres away, which is pretty as a picture - on one side there is a promenade lined with painted beach huts, a delicious beach café and an upscale restaurant. On the other side is a long stretch of beach, it really is perfect as it offers large areas of soft sand ideal for sunbathing and paddling, but also has areas of rocks where children and adults alike can enjoy finding crabs and small fish. The beach slopes gently into the sea so it's great for paddling and offers safe swimming, in fact if you head out for a morning walk you'll likely see some locals enjoying an early dip! The promenade stretches all the way to Totland Bay and makes for a lovely walk, why not stop off at the newly renovated café for an ice-cream or light lunch? Our top tip: a brand new beach hut business has opened up on the Colwell Bay promenade: SupDog Rentals, where you can hire stand-up paddle boards at very reasonable prices. The owner is very friendly and it's such a fun activity to try.

Freshwater Bay, it is just a 5-minute drive from Little Bassett it offers one of the most picturesque beaches of West Wight.
The iconic Needles landmark is a 10-minute drive where you can enjoy the chairlift down the cliffs to the beach and visit the famous Shopping Emporium.

Getting Around: Bus services are provided by Southern Vectis, the closest stop is just a few minutes walk, located at Colwell Baptist Church. This stop is served by the Needles Breezer and Island Coaster bus routes: click here for a map. The Isle of Wight is served by two Ferry companies: Wight Link and Red Funnel.
Red Funnel operates from Southampton and offers a foot passenger service to West Cowes and a vehicle ferry to East Cowes.
Wight Link offers three ferry services:
Lymington to Yarmouth takes 40 minutes and then just a 5-minute drive from the B&B
Portsmouth to Fishbourne takes 45 minutes and then a 40-minute drive from the B&B
Portsmouth to Ryde is a foot passenger service only
