About Us
About Us

This is me and my husband, Mark. I am a midwife by profession and am bilingual in  German. Mark served in the British Army and is a keen motorcyclist.

We have just moved to the Isle of Wight from Germany. We have an abundance of grandchildren but only our German Shepherd, Sula, lives with us (she does not have any access to the guest areas).

The Bed & Breakfast is located in a residential area at the end of a quiet road, just a five-minute drive from Yarmouth Ferry Port (Please note that street view on Google maps is out of date and shows building works).

We bought 'Little Bassett' in 2015 after falling in love with the area and I decided to pursue my dream of running a Bed and Breakfast. The property had already been named and so we kept it and turned it into the name of our B&B!

I look forward to welcoming you, Tamara Richmond

We are opening on the 21st March and bookings are now being taken online. Please email us if you have any enquiries: littlebassettbedandbreakfast@outlook.com

The beautiful Colwell Bay is just 150 metres away, its gentle shelving beach makes it an idyllic place to relax.  With views of Hurst Castle and Fort Albert, it is popular with families, couples, walkers and cyclists.

We are right next to the coastal path, which leads to one of the Island's most popular walks along the Tennyson Trail.

Why not book a picnic to take to Freshwater Bay, a 10-minute drive away it offers one of the most picturesque beaches of West Wight.

The iconic Needles landmark is just a five-minute drive, enjoy the chairlift down the cliffs to the beach and visit the famous Shopping Emporium.

Bus services are provided by Southern Vectis, the closest stop is just a few minutes walk, located at Colwell Baptist Church. This stop is served by the Needles Breezer and Island Coaster bus routes: click here for a map

The Needles Breezer Bus route goes from Colwell to the Needles and Freshwater Bay: click here for a timetable.

The Island Coaster route starts from Freshwater, cuts through Colwell and then follows the South and West coast all the way to Ryde: click here for a timetable

The Isle of Wight is served by two Ferry companies: Wight Link and Red Funnel

Red Funnel operates from Southampton and offers a foot passenger service to West Cowes and a vehicle ferry to East Cowes.

Wight Link offers three ferry services:

Lymington to Yarmouth takes 40 minutes and then just a 5-minute drive from the B&B

Portsmouth to Fishbourne takes 45 minutes and then a 40-minute drive from the B&B

Portsmouth to Ryde is a foot passenger service only
